At processing entry points, cheque or A4 document scanning devices fully automate the capture of images in various formats. Once a digital representation of an item has been secured, various levels of interpretation and upward integration of data can take place.

Digital capture interprets data from printed or handwritten text. MICR (magnetic ink character recognition) code lines are also read and the information processed into easy to operate screens. Information from any location on the the front or rear of an item is available as electronic data. This can then be transferred directly into existing accounting, finance or other business systems, CRM, etc. The images remain in a powerful image archive for scrutiny using powerful search engines.
